Pros and Cons of Amazon WebStore
Updated: March 15, 2016
Amazon has decided to discontinue the WebStore, and will be giving store owners until July 1st, 2016 to find a new solution. We recommend that Amazon WebStore Owners check out Shopify, Amazon’s preferred migration partner.
Shopify comes with the following features:
Website builder
Built in Blog
Unlimited bandwidth and Product
Global tax and Currency Support
Gift Cards & Discount Codes
Login and Pay with Amazon
Fulfillment by Amazon
Selling on Amazon is still in development, but should be coming soon!

Amazon WebStore is an all inclusive, hosted eCommerce solution that provides companies, both big and small, with the ability of creating and running a website. There are several big name brands already using the WebStore: Fruit of the Loom, Black & Decker, and Cracker Barrel. These sites are designed well, easy to navigate, and coordinate with their other websites.
WebStore offers a variety of features, and when you add Amazon WebStore to your Sell on Amazon Account, you can continue to sell products on Amazon.com. You are also given the option of setting your shipping to be fulfilled by your warehouse, or by Amazon. On paper, there are a lot of things going for the eCommerce store, but after completing a recent project on Amazon WebStore, the Border7 team sat down to discuss, and this list of the pros and cons of Amazon WebStore.
By the end of the project, our developers were not particularly thrilled with the platform. From a developer standpoint, the process of implementation and store setup was overly complicated, and unrefined. In short, the cons outweigh the pros. We longed for the freedom to code where we please, and expected to automatically see our changes populate once saved, but this was not supported.
Perhaps with more work from Amazon, this platform could eventually attain greatness, but for now, it is not a Border7 favorite. If you would like to see for yourself, they offer a 30 day trail, which should give you plenty of time to form your opinion.
