Why You Need a Brand Story

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

Whether you’re a 1 person operation, or have a team of employees, people are what make a company.

If social media has taught us anything, it’s that people like connecting with genuine stories.

One of your goals with running your online business should be establishing and sharing your brand story.

What is a Brand Story?

It’s a compelling story that details why your company was started, why you’re passionate about it, and what sets you apart from everyone else.

Ideally, you want to address:

  1. Who your product or service is for (Target Audience)

  2. Why they need it (Problem It Solves)

  3. Why you’re passionate about your business

  4. Behind the scenes (Who You Are, Where You’re Based & Your Mission)

Your Brand Story should resonate with a reader on an emotional level and show you’re human.

Sharing some information about yourself can you create more meaningful connections with your clients/customers.

What Vibes With You?

With so many people out there telling a similar story of the young millionaire who travels the world, never gets burnt out, or only shares the amazing things that happen in their life, it’s important to be genuine.

Plus, the exotic car and private jet life isn’t what everyone aspires to have.

Personally, we’d resonate more with someone who has a family farm and spare time for their hobbies.

We’re all different, so don’t feel like you have to claim or promise something that doesn’t vibe with you.

Something we see small businesses struggle with is effectively communicating what they do, who it’s for & why they need it.

People do business with people, so don’t be afraid to let your personality show and include pictures of you/your team.

Do this and it will not only resonate with people, they’ll remember it.
